Deepti

Deepti Barth was born to an Argentinean mother and a German father and was raised in Germany with some formative childhood years spent in a commune in the USA. In 1999, she moved to London for Foundation Studies at Camberwell College of Arts which were followed by Bachelor Studies in Fashion Design with emphasis on mens’ tailoring at Middlesex University. During her studies, she gained work experience in the design ateliers of Vivienne Westwood, Boudicca and Carol Christian Poell, and sold her menswear collections at a store in London’s Savile Row. In 2005, Barth completed a Master of Arts in menswear design at Central Saint Martins.

Upon graduation she joined Carol Christian Poell in Milan as menswear and womenswear designer for 7 years until 2012. Following her affinity for photography while in this role, she documented the work through image and video, resulting in publications in Visionaire, Domus, Art Magazin, and others. In 2012, Deepti Barth moved to Berlin to begin work under her own name. Her eponymous menswear label D E E P T I, launched in Paris in early 2014, has since presented in Paris the annual menswear collections ‘925’, ‘Broken Formality’ and the recent °017-018 ‘Petrifaction’ collection, and is now sold in selected stores worldwide. Her art exhibition “Transgression” has been featured at the Lazzari Store in 2015.

Deepti Barth clothing mix sartorial tradition with new processing techniques, innovative fabrics developed to create a new way of understanding and wearing fashion, at the same time craft and industrial. The Deepti Barth clothing collections expressly express its character as an artist: extreme care in the choice of materials, traditional but also contemporary.
