Le forme del silenzio – Giuseppe Nicoletti + Nane Zavagno

Giuseppe Nicoletti

The shapes favored by the Treviso artist Nicoletti belong to solid geometry: parallelepipeds, cubes and pyramids. Nicoletti superimposes and intersects them as if they were about to fall, in a state of perpetual precarious balance. His works inevitably refer to abstractionism, metaphysics, mysterious and disturbing landscapes, however colorful.

Born in 1948, Giuseppe Nicoletti was born, lives and works in Treviso. He began drawing and painting at a very young age, also taking lessons from Renato Nesi. He began painting geometric solids in the seventies. He often exhibits at the Bevilacqua la Masa Foundation in Venice and refines his studies and research around geometric figuration and its relationship with space. To date he has more than 50 personal exhibitions in his artistic career.

Nane Zavagno

Nane Zavagno’s sculptures made of steel lattices express solidity and lightness at the same time. They look like enormous bird aviaries that frame portions of the landscape. His great artistic ability lies in removing and simplifying, seeking beauty in the absolute synthesis of forms.

Born in the Pordenone area in 1932, Zavagni is a sculptor, painter and mosaicist. In the 1950s he dedicated himself above all to informal painting, while in the 1960s he began to use anodic aluminium. His artistic research is part of kinetic and optical art. In the Seventies and Eighties he developed modular structures. The use of wire mesh for his works places him fully within the field of conceptual artistic research.
