In the exhibition Danza Atavica (Atavistic Dance), the gestural and dynamic graffiti of Valerio Pazzaia’s figures engages in dialogue with the plastic tensions of the dancing nymphs in Luciano Longo’s installation. The Danza Atavica (Atavistic Dance) exhibition features works by Valerio Pazzaia, characterized by the graffiti of his gestures and the dynamism of his figures, and installations of dancing nymphs created by Luciano Longo. The metaphorical dialogue between the two gives rise to plastic tensions that reveal the deepest and most atavistic reality of the human being.

Pazzaia’s works, with their confident, immediate, and colorful lines, reflect the inner dimension of humanity, where the archaic and postmodern worlds meet and collide. Pazzaia defines himself as a “psychonaut” who explores the most hidden corners of consciousness through his artistic gesture, his works. Pazzaia’s “anthropic landscape” is a concept in which humanity searches for its archaic roots and expresses them in artistic form. It’s no coincidence that Pazzaia’s technique is a kind of Paleolithic graffiti combined with contemporary graffiti.
LUCIANO LONGO
Luciano Longo has always sought, through sculpture, to represent the female body in its formal features but also in its references to ancient myths. In this exhibition, the installations represent nymphs, deities associated with water. The bodies of these dancing figures emerge from concrete blocks, walls, and so on, crystallizing the dynamic and material tension between the elements at play. The nymphs’ bodies bend, arch, in an attempt to free themselves. In these sculptures, one can read, against the light, the condition of women, the desire to free themselves from social conventions and the “places” reserved for them.
