MYTHOS
Inaugurated on June 1st, the Mythos exhibition set up at the Spazio Lazzari in Treviso proposes the dialectical encounter between the graphic-pictorial dimension of Lorenzo Speranzin, inspired by the American myth, and the plastic-linear dimension of the sculptural works of Roberto Alberoni, referring to the female body.
The “American myth” by Lorenzo Speranzin
Lorenzo Speranzin’s works take up the vast and never-quite-exhausted theme of the “American myth”. The images he develops, intertwining graphic, photographic and pictorial techniques, seem like traces of memories imbued with that nostalgic symbolism of a now distant, unrepeatable past. In America Dejavu, El Dorado, The Genesis, the themes of the frontier, of the natives, of the expansion of the metropolises up to the famous gold rush, the myth of the dollar and that American dream of freedom and progress that permeated the Sixties emerge. Speranzin does not forget the references to Hot Road cars and New York taxis, to the iconic streets of American metropolises as well as to the skyscrapers soaring (almost) without interruption in the U.S.A. skies. The iconographic re-evocation of Great America tells us how the glossy vision of the era reveals itself, today more than ever, to be the cradle of many socio-political-cultural contradictions.

The female figure in the works of Roberto Alberoni
Roberto Alberoni’s sculptures draw stylized female bodies in curved and rectilinear, flat and three-dimensional geometric shapes. Alberoni’s creative process translates female physicality into plastic abstraction, while preserving the significant essence of the original model. Works such as Memento and Nemesi become the absolute protagonists of the space that surrounds them, in a game of full-empty spaces that multiply the forms in apparent movement. In thread-like sculptures such as Hologram Alberoni deconstructs the subjects to the point that the space seems to be designed by them.
