Le pieghe della materia / The folds of matter – Carmine Calvanese + Roberto Lanaro
Carmine Calvanese’s works are positive, lively, very colourful. They express the current post-modern cultural sensitivity, between pop and trash art, deformed and fantastic images.
Lanaro’s sculptures are strong and essential, his indestructible forms recall architectural structures that recall essential geometric origami cut from thin sheets of paper.
The difference between the two worlds is only apparent.
Carmine Calvanese
Calvanese’s works always start from plastic or synthetic supports. Then the artist works the material until it takes on different shapes, unusual, animated appearances. Calvanese’s dreamlike, fairy-tale world is often represented with a certain degree of irony.
Roberto Lanaro
Lanaro’s sculpture is here to stay. Its solid, essential, almost eternal forms are imposing but at the same time light. They are reminiscent of origami, although Lanara’s works are remarkable, austere and monumental. They seem to be creatures created by Nature or archaeological remains now perfectly integrated into the architectural and urban space.
