TRACES OF WATER AND FIRE

PASQUALE FRACCALVIERI – FABIO DE MOJAN

The primordial elements of water and fire run through and emerge from the works of these two Italian artists, becoming imbued with meaning. The exhibition “Traces of Water and Fire” (Tracce d’acqua e di fuoco) by Pasquale Fraccalvieri and Fabio De Mojan is hosted at Spazio Lazzari in Treviso, running from June 1, 2026, to August 31, 2026.

PASQUALE FRACCALVIERI

The fluidity and transparency of the brushstrokes in Fraccalvieri’s works evoke the flow of water currents. Against washes of color with undefined edges, one notices tactile elements — specifically, words stitched onto the canvas with fabric thread. Amidst the layers of color, these words represent what remains: what re-emerges and cannot be erased, what endures as time passes, currents flow, and life moves on.

Pasquale Fraccalvieri, an artist originally from Salerno, lives in Treviso, where he teaches Physical Education and Sports Science. A graduate of an art high school with a background in architectural studies, he has developed a unique creative and experimental sensibility regarding both the artistic language and the materials used to create his work. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including the 61st Venice Biennale (Guinea Pavilion).

FABIO DE MOJAN

For sculptor Fabio De Mojan, fire is the natural element that allows him to forge and shape iron, drawing inspiration from everyday reality. His subjects are diverse, ranging from a horse to a swimmer, and from a winged centaur to an abstract nude. Iron and fire become the vital cells of his artworks. The sculpture series titled “Sasso-forme” (Stone-forms) drives his exploration of the origins of sculpture and the pure form of a stone as shaped by nature.

Born in Venice, Fabio De Mojan lives in Mogliano Veneto. After graduating from art high school, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. He soon developed a passion for working with iron and met Toni Benetton, the artist who founded the International Iron Academy; Benetton became a key artistic mentor for him. His wife, Isabella, also played a fundamental role in his creative development, alongside Visual Arts professor Giancarlo Zaramella. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions and has been commissioned by local authorities to create public monuments.
