TRACES OF LIFE – BIANCA BEGHIN+PAOLA GAMBA
Traces of life (“Tracce di vita” in Italian) is an exhibition in which the interior-existential chromatisms of the painter Bianca Beghin and the monumental or “walkable” installations of Paola Gamba interact.
BIANCA BEGHIN AND HER COLORED TREES
Bianca Beghin’s colorful trees are a metaphor for life and its interpretation in its own internal dimension. The bright colors of those corners of unrealistic woods painted on the canvases, the irregular and crossed lines of trunks, branches and foliage, bring to life fragments of an unnatural but equally alive Nature. Space and time evaporate and the shapes stand out in a spiritual dimension where each part is intertwined with the whole. A single tree or a forest becomes a projection of the self, of one’s soul, of one’s feelings and relationships with others.
PAOLA GAMBA: PYRAMIDS AND PAINTED SHEETS
Paola Gamba’s installations physically involve the viewer: they are imposing works, which attract attention and stimulate action. The large painted sheets spread on the ground, for example, are also made to be walked on, based on the principle that a work of art should not simply be looked at but experienced. Paola Gamba’s language originates from Informal art and Abstract Expressionism. Through color, the artist’s gestural traces, collage, etc. Gamba creates a single channel of communication between herself, the work and the interlocutor, making a work of art an extension of her own self.
