Parajumpers meets Heidelberg Project
Heidelberg Project is an organization in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Promotes the arts as a means to recover and relaunch the city. Born from an idea by Tyree Guyton, HP brings together in two blocks the works of several artists who work mainly with materials found inside ruined buildings, or with discarded objects, such as clothing, cars or small pieces of iron and wood. The result is an open-air museum where the children of the neighborhood play, learn about art and help the artists themselves in the preparation and maintenance of the works.
Today Tyree Guyton, artist and founder of the Heidelberg Project, is known throughout the world. His “artscape” and his work in the community inspire thousands of people from all over the world who come to visit the neighborhood, participating as volunteers in the programs. The Heidelberg Project demonstrates how art can change history, the lives of people and the places they live in. Parajumpers has decided to support the Heidelberg Project. The result is a series of photographs taken of girls and boys from Detroit, volunteers, all with a past to tell and a dream to realize.
